JOHNSON & FREEMAN, LLC was founded in 1994 by Horace J. Johnson, Jr. and Ronald J. Freeman, Sr. The firm has celebrated 25 years of legal service to the business and governmental communities. Our staff remains true to the high standards set by the founders of commitment to integrity, and the provision of the highest level of legal services to our clients. Adherence to these principles allow us to build a sterling reputation in the legal profession as evidenced by the elevation of founding partner, Horace J. Johnson, Jr., to the Newton County Superior Court bench in 2002, and the naming of the other founding partner, Ronald J. Freeman, Sr., as a “Georgia Super Lawyer” for the year 2004 and successor years. Mr. Freeman has also received the designation of a “Georgia Legal Elite” since 2003. In 2018, Attorney Freeman was recognized as a “Top Georgia Business Lawyer” by his peers. In 2019, Attorney Freeman was recognized as a “Top Business Lawyer” Nationally by the American College of Trial Lawyers

Our Corporate & Business Litigation Group represents a variety of business organizations in all forms of corporate transactions. Practice areas include franchise licensing; contract negotiation and litigation; dispute resolution; business formation, reorganization and dissolution; corporate and business counseling; mergers and acquisitions; and debt financing. Additionally, we represent nationally known lenders and title companies in litigation and commercial closings.
Our Design and Construction Law Group serves clients in all phases of design and construction projects from bidding and contract negotiation to mechanics liens and bond claims to litigation and dispute resolution. We provide representation in the public and private sectors including owners, engineering professionals and contractors/sub-contractors.
Our Governmental Law Group represents counties, municipalities and other governmental entities. Focus areas include ad valorem property tax appeals; condemnation; procurement and construction; employment; insurance defense and self-insurance; and tort defense litigation. We also provide counsel in drafting of ordinances, charters, and laws concerning environmental issues.
Our Labor and Employment Group represents small and medium size employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. Representation includes union negotiations; arbitrations; union avoidance and campaigns; and defending employment claims brought under all state and federal labor and employment laws. Our members practice in state and federal courts and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Our expertise in this area also includes drafting employment handbooks, severance and employment agreements; drafting and delivering training on labor, employment and diversity issues; investigating employee grievances and sexual harassment complaints; and advising on employee relations workplace issues.
Our Estate Planning Group provides counsel to clients in the planning of wills, trusts, estates and guardianships. We work with financial investment advisors and other professionals to assist in providing financial security for our clients. We also represent charitable organizations on matters concerning donations and deferred giving techniques.
Our Family Law Group represents clients in a variety of family law matters and domestic relations issues, including prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and division of all real, business, and personal property. We know how to navigate through sensitive personal situations.
Our Criminal Law Group defends clients at all stages of criminal prosecution, from arraignment through trial and appeal. We represent clients in both misdemeanor and felony charges, specializing in obtaining Pretrial Diversion, DUI Defense, and Drug Charges.
