JOHNSON & FREEMAN, LLC was founded in 1994 by Horace J. Johnson, Jr. and Ronald J. Freeman, Sr. The firm then underwent a transformation in 1999 with the merging of Patrise Perkins-Hooker’s commercial real estate practice, leading to the rebranding of the firm as Johnson, Freeman & Perkins-Hooker. During that time, the firm maintained offices in both Midtown Atlanta and Covington, Georgia.
With a legacy spanning nearly three decades, our firm has been dedicated to providing top-tier legal services to businesses and governmental entities. We remain steadfast in upholding the founding principles of unwavering integrity and delivering the highest quality legal counsel to our clients.
Our commitment to these standards has not only solidified our standing in the legal profession but also resulted in many notable awards and achievements. Horace J. Johnson, Jr. was elevated to the Newton County Superior Court bench in 2002, and Ronald J. Freeman, Sr. earned recognition as a “Georgia Super Lawyer” in 2004 and subsequent years. Attorney Freeman has also held the title of “Georgia Legal Elite” since 2003. In 2018, Attorney Freeman was honored as a “Top Georgia Business Lawyer” by his peers, and in 2019, he received national recognition as a “Top Business Lawyer” from the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation.
In 2001, Patrise Perkins-Hooker embarked on new professional endeavors, including serving as the General Counsel for the Atlanta Beltline, becoming the State Bar President of Georgia (the first African American to hold this role), and working as the Fulton County Attorney. In 2020, Horace J. Johnson, Jr. sadly passed away due to COVID-related causes. In his memory, the Newton County Courthouse was renamed the Horace J. Johnson, Jr. Justice Center later that year.
In 2021, Patrise Perkins-Hooker rejoined the firm as the Administrative Partner and head of the Commercial and Transactional Practice Group, bringing her wealth of experience and expertise back to the JOHNSON & FREEMAN team.
